When you are looking for a wedding photographer in Hertfordshire there are a number of things to take into consideration. Not the least of these is your budget. There is no point finding a great wedding photographer only to find that you can’t afford their price. The average prices for a single wedding photographer are between £1,500 and £2,000. At The Two Wedding Photographers, our rates are dependent on how long you want us for on the big day.
We charge £1,595, if you need us for up to six continuous hours and £2,195 if you want us for nine hours. You can also add extra hours at a discounted rate of £100 an hour if you want us longer. However, for these prices, you get TWO of us, not just a single photographer. There are several advantages to having two photographers at your wedding. Not the least of which is that a single photographer cannot be in two places at once. If you’re having formal pictures taken, a single photographer cannot be taking candid shots at the same time.
£1,500 – £2,000 may seem like a large chunk of your budget for the day. Remember that this is the most important day of your lives and the photographs are your record of the day. They will be with you long after everyone has forgotten the wedding cake and the taste of the champagne.
When choosing a photographer, you need to find one with whom you get on. Remember that the photographer is going to be with you for a large part of your day, if not all day, so it needs to be someone with whom you feel at ease. For this, you need to arrange a time to meet. Ask the photographer to bring along a portfolio so that you can see the type of shots he or she produces. At The Two Wedding Photographers we can show you a vast selection of the work that we have done in the past and our luxury Queensberry albums.
What sort of photographs do you want? There are three main different styles such as traditional photography, reportage photography, which is like photojournalism, and contemporary which is creative and artistic and may use dramatic backdrops, and unusual angles or lighting. Traditional photography is the classic, posed look, and takes quite a bit of direction from the photographer, but it does take time, and means that you may miss out on some of the action taking place elsewhere in the venue – unless you have two photographers, of course.
Reportage photography means that the photographer will be among you and your guests and take candid shots of things as they happen. There is no posing, unless you ask for some posed shots, as it is all about reactions and emotions, so it can tell the real story of the day.
Ask your potential photographer for some testimonials. A reputable photographer will have plenty of testimonials and can put you in touch with recent clients. At The Two Wedding Photographers we can provide you can see our couples testimonials across many platforms such as Trust Pilot and Facebook.
Does the photographer already know your venue? This is not critical, but it may well be that a photographer has worked at your venue before. They may be aware of the set-up, lighting, and so on. We always visit your venue approx. a month before your day. This helps us plan your wedding day photography and meet with your wedding co-ordinator in advance.
You then need to narrow down your options to find the right photographer for you. As well as the price, you need to consider what is included in the package. Is there an album, USB and website. What is the number of hours, how many photos, whether there is a second shooter, any video production etc. At The Two Wedding Photographers we also offer videography including drone footage from your day.
